A group of St John Ambulance volunteers will be cycling to raise funds for their lifesaving work.
The three-day challenge, known as the Great Yorkshire Pump and Pedal 2026, will take place over the August Bank Holiday weekend.
The ride will see volunteers Darin, Adrian, and others travelling from York to Scarborough on Saturday, August 29, Scarborough to Middlesbrough on Sunday, August 30, and back to York on Monday, August 31.
The volunteers will take turns riding a specialist St John Ambulance cycle response bike, equipped to provide rapid medical assistance.
The challenge will finish in York on August 31 with a four-hour demonstration of CPR and the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) at York Railway Station.
St John Ambulance Cadets will be showing the public how to respond to cardiac emergencies.
The event will also feature fundraising activities and chances for the public to learn simple lifesaving skills.
A celebratory cream tea will be held at The Milner York Hotel at 3pm to conclude the events, with supporters, volunteers, and cyclists all invited.
Tickets are still available for the event, which will also allow attendees to meet St John Ambulance volunteers and learn more about the charity's work.
The hotel, The Milner York, was renamed in 2024 in honour of William Milner, a York Station foreman and St John Ambulance volunteer who died during the Baedeker Raid on York in 1942.
The Great Yorkshire Pump and Pedal, now in its fifth year, continues to raise essential funds for St John Ambulance volunteers providing first aid, health, and community services in the region.
