'Much-loved' grandfather dies after being hit by car in Aldi car park

A 77-year-old man has died after suffering life-threatening injuries when he was hit by a car in an Aldi car park in Brighouse.

At around 12:55pm on Thursday (Aug 6), police responded to reports of a crash in Brighouse.

The incident occurred in an Aldi car park, on Halifax Road, and involved a Toyota Prius and a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, 77-year-old David Bush, was taken to hospital with serious life-threatening injuries.

On Monday (Aug 17), the man died from his injuries.

David’s family has paid tribute to him in a statement via West Yorkshire Police.

The statement said: "David was a much-loved husband, father, and grandfather and will be missed dearly by those who knew him."

A 46-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and has now been bailed pending further enquiries.

Police launched an appeal for any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
