New supermarket to open in North Yorkshire town this autumn

The Aldi store in Commercial Street, Norton, is due to open in October.

Highway works at the Aldi entrance are now complete and the temporary traffic lights removed.

Car park surfacing works are currently programmed through late August and September.

Store fit-out works are currently expected to be completed by early October.

A spokesperson for Aldi said: “Work is progressing well on our new store in Norton. We are currently fitting out the new store and developing the car park areas. Our aim is to open the store to customers in early October. All works on site have been completed in line with the planning conditions set by North Yorkshire Council.”

The Norton store is one of 15 the supermarket chain plans to open 16 new stores across the UK in the coming months.

The Germany-based retailer has more than 1,080 UK stores and is pushing ahead with continued expansion plans to grow its shop estate across the country.

The plans are part of long-term ambitions by Aldi to expand to 1,500 sites across the UK.
