Thunderstorms are expected to bring travel disruption and possible flash flooding across Yorkshire.
A Met Office yellow weather warning is in place for much of Yorkshire, including York, as well as areas of north Wales, Manchester, Carlisle, and Newcastle.
Areas such as Bradford, Ripon, Scarborough, and Whitby are also included in the warning area.
The alert will start at 7pm on Wednesday, August 19, and will remain in effect until 10am on Thursday, August 20.
Thunderstorm warnings for Yorkshire
A spokesman for the Met Office said: "Heavy showers will develop this evening, becoming more frequent and widespread overnight.
"These are likely to bring 15 to 20mm in an hour in some areas with as much as 30 to 50mm falling in a period of six hours in some places.
"These accumulations may lead to a few places seeing some flooding.
"Alongside the rain, some showers are likely to be thundery, bringing the additional hazards of lightning and hail.
"The showers will ease from the northwest Thursday morning."
The warning raises concerns about travel disruption and property damage.
Spray, standing water, and hail could make driving hazardous and lead to longer journey times for cars and buses.
Some buildings and homes might flood, which will lead to some damage.
Train services may also be delayed, and short-term power cuts could occur in affected areas.
Buildings may be at risk of damage from lightning strikes.
