A UK retailer is shutting a town centre store after five years of trading.
Alpkit will close its Ilkley store as the company continues a nationwide restructuring programme.
When will Alpkit shut?
The Station Road spot will shut permanently on Sunday, September 6.
Alpkit says it will be 40 per cent off all items remaining.
What has the retailer said?
In a statement, Alpkit said: "Our Ilkley store will be closing on Sunday 6th September 2026.
"We're incredibly grateful to everyone who has visited, shopped with us, shared stories and helped make our Ilkley store part of the local outdoor community.
"Before we say goodbye, we'd like to thank everyone who has supported us over the years with 40 per cent off all items on our remaining in-store stock.
"Thank you, The Alpkit Team."
Sadness at closure
The closure was also highlighted by Discover Ilkley, which encouraged residents to support the business before it shuts its doors.
A spokesperson said: "Sadly Alpkit in Ilkley is closing down.
"Before they permanently close their doors, they are offering 40 per cent off everything in-store. So there are definitely some good bargains to be had. Please do support them during this time."
What is Alpkit?
Alpkit officially opened its Ilkley store at 7 Station Road on July 8, 2021.
The shop has served walkers, runners, climbers and cyclists, stocking everything from hiking and climbing equipment to bikepacking bags and Sonder gravel bikes.
The company described the store as a place where outdoor enthusiasts could also "just come in and hang out when you're soggy and tired after a full day running, biking or hiking".
Alpkit announced earlier this year that it would be shutting two stores, in Ilkley and Inverness, as part of a wider retail restructure.
The Nottinghamshire-based business said the move forms part of a turnaround strategy after entering administration and securing new financial backing earlier this year.
Customers can visit the Ilkley store until September 6 and take advantage of the closing-down sale, with all remaining in-store stock reduced by 40 per cent.
