A child was taken to hospital after falling from a tree and down an embankment near Roseberry Topping, with air ambulance crews also called to the scene.
Emergency volunteers were called at about 12.30pm yesterday (Tuesday, August 18), after the North East Ambulance Service requested assistance at Newton Woods, near the top of Roseberry Topping.
The youngster had fallen from a tree and landed several metres down an embankment, suffering upper-body injuries.
Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team deployed two Land Rovers, with volunteers approaching via Aireyholme Farm and Roseberry Lane.
Paramedics from the North East Ambulance Service and the Great North Air Ambulance Service assessed and treated the child at the scene.
Rescuers initially set up a rope system to help the casualty walk back up to the path using a harness.
However, they were later placed in a mountain rescue stretcher and brought up the embankment using a back-up rope system.
Once back on the path, the child was carried about 400 metres to a waiting ambulance at the top of Roseberry Lane before being taken to hospital.

A total of 16 Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team members attended the incident, which lasted around three hours.
A spokesperson said: "We wish the person a speedy recovery and best wishes."
