A man who was charged with strangling and assaulting an emergency worker has denied the offence following an attack in County Durham last week.
Officers were called to an address in Spennymoor on August 11, following reports a man was assaulting a woman inside the property.
A 47-year-old man was located nearby and was subsequently arrested and taken into custody.
Michael Thomas Collier, of Spennymoor, was charged with intentional strangulation and common assault of an emergency worker.
He appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court today (August 19) where he pleaded not guilty to both charges.
He was bailed with conditions and is next expected to appear for trial at the same court on December 4.
