Drivers could face a diversion of nearly 40 minutes in North Yorkshire while work is carried out to rebuild a failed retaining wall.
North Yorkshire Council is set to close Stonesdale Lane to Tan Hill, near Langthwaite, as part of the West Stonesdale Retaining Wall scheme.
Roadworks information shows a closure is currently scheduled from Monday, August 31 until Friday, September 25, with a diversion in force at all times.
The signed diversion is about 44.6km, or 27.7 miles, and is expected to take motorists about 39 minutes to complete.
North Yorkshire Council said the road closure is required to rebuild a failed retaining wall on West Stonesdale Lane.
The diversion begins on Stonesdale Lane before taking motorists towards Little Bridge, Great Bridge and Stonesdale Bridge.
Drivers will then be directed along roads including Clay Hill, Long Causeway, Beck Crooks Bridge, Raw Bank and Arkengarthdale Road before eventually returning to Stonesdale Lane.
The reverse route applies for motorists travelling in the opposite direction.
A temporary traffic order issued by North Yorkshire Council gives a wider period during which restrictions can be imposed.
It states: "North Yorkshire Council has made this Order to prohibit any vehicle from using Stonesdale Lane to Tan Hill, Langthwaite due to the rebuild of a failed retaining wall on West Stonesdale Lane.

"It is envisaged that the restriction will be in force from August 24 until October 2 inclusive."
It says the closure will only apply when traffic signs are in place and that a local alternative route will be signed where appropriate.
Motorists are advised to check signs and the latest roadworks information before travelling, as the exact period of closure may depend on the progress of the works.
