Harrogate Spa Town Ukes 'make a difference' for Saint Michael's Hospice by raising more than £8,000

Harrogate’s amazing ukulele band have raised more than £8k for Saint Michael's Hospice after 12 months of entertaining crowds with their vintage sounds.

Harrogate Spa Town Ukes have presented a cheque for £8,700 to Saint Michael's Hospice in Harrogate – collected from more than 50 performances in the last financial year.

The incredibly active musical outfit have supported Saint Michael's Hospice since their formation some 12 years ago.

The last three years have seen them raise a total of more than £18,000 for the charity.

Sandra Gilbert, from Saint Michael’s Hospice, said: “At Saint Michael’s, we know that behind every gift of support is someone who cares deeply about their community.

"We are incredibly thankful to the Harrogate Spa Town Ukes for their generosity and dedication.

"Their ongoing support will help us continue providing comfort, care and support to local people and their loved ones when it matters most.”

The Harrogate Spa Town Ukes play regularly throughout the district, bringing their vintage rock and pop energy to many care homes, public concerts and even two appearances at Ripon Cathedral! Busy as ever with appearances at the Food Festival in Ripley and the Autumn Flower Show in Newby Hall – to name but two of the 40 plus bookings so far this year.

The band's bass player, Rob Lloyd, Rob Lloyd, said: 'We all enjoy the combination of having great fun whilst being able to contribute to such a worthy cause – and to actually make a difference.”
