Summer is passing fast, but for anyone feeling spontaneous, it’s not too late to book a Yorkshire staycation.

From converted shipping containers to a tipi with hammocks, these are the quirkiest Yorkshire staycations – they still have availability this August.

This shepherd’s hut has a hot tub, private BBQ, and most importantly, three Highland cows and three goats waiting to be petted onsite. Availability is slim, but a gypsy caravan is also available at the same location.

Surrounded by thick heather moorland, this rustic cottage feels like an old-world film set – there’s even a ladder to climb upstairs. Guests can combine a stay with visits to Ilkley and Addingham, with river swimming and moor walks.

A tipi in the Howardian Hills

Only a short drive from Castle Howard, Roma Rose is a peaceful tipi staycation. For a countryside reset, there is currently availability throughout the next two weeks.

With bifold doors and rustic interiors, this former shipping container is a quirky place for a last-minute staycation. Previous guests have reported seeing barn owls, deer, and foxes. If availability becomes limited, the site also has a handmade shepherd’s hut.
