Roof tops are the best place to put solar panels - Yorkshire Post Letters

Solar panels are wonderful things - every home should have one. Roof tops are the best place for them when positioned to catch the best of the sunshine.

Do we really need to cover 2,200 acres of good farmland with solar panels, 1000000 of them in order to get the benefit of ‘free energy’? (The YP, July 4).

How many tonnes of corn will be lost? How much was paid to purchase all this land and what was the price of this huge consignment of solar panels from China? Then we have to ask, what will be the cost of building this massive facility?

Our City Council declared a state of climate emergency some years ago. Has our government done the same?

The authorities appear to be using emergency powers to force their plans through and to be defying all opposition.

If Great Britain were to achieve ‘Net Zero’, this alone would not stop the progress of climate change and of global warming. Climate catastrophe may hit us before construction of these facilities is completed.

An international effort is needed to find ways of cooling our planet and of restoring rainfall to its former levels.

A major reduction of the number of air miles flown would help. We need to re-think our approach to tackling this urgent and serious problem and all its associated issues.
