Queen to visit York tomorrow for major event

QUEEN Camilla will visit York tomorrow to attend the Ebor Festival at York Racecourse.

Her visit will take place on Wednesday, August 19, as part of the prestigious racing event and will see her meet representatives of the racecourse’s charity partners.

Camilla became royal patron of York Racecourse in 2024, taking over from Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.

Bridget Guerin, chair of York Racecourse, said: "Extending a York Racecourse welcome to our Royal Patron has been both a privilege and a personal pleasure on her last two visits; it is so exciting that we are again being honoured."

The Queen, a long-time supporter of horse racing, has attended the previous two Ebor Festivals - surprising guests in 2024 by visiting twice.

During last year’s festival, she unveiled a plaque on Ladies Day marking the Juddmonte International’s recognition as the Longines World’s Best Race in 2024.

She also officially opened the multi-million-pound Bustardthorpe Development at the racecourse.

Her appearance last year surprised racegoers, who watched as she toured the venue with security and spoke with officials and members of the public.
