Hundreds enjoy country music festival at vineyard near York

HUNDREDS enjoyed a Country music festival at a vineyard to the west of York.
The popular inaugural event took place at the Yorkshire Heart Vineyard and Brewery at Nun Monkton from 12-noon to 11pm.
Yorkshire Heart managing director Tim Spakouskas says the vineyard staged the first-ever event as there seems to be “a real buzz” around country music right now, especially with country bars opening in York and elsewhere; and he and his family being country music fans too.
Tim continued: “We had a great mix of local and national acts from soloists, duos and full bands. The afternoon was a chilled out mix of acoustic sets out on the lawn. We kicked off with Lynn Marie Williams then had Elizabeth & Jameson, The GinJammers, Chloe Jones, Simon Snaize. We then moved into the marquee to ramp up the Saturday night party with The Diamond Aces followed by Lisa T performing the Headline set.
“We had over 200 people attend the event, beer, wine and cider all provided by Yorkshire Heart, our Winehouse café was busy all day with food followed by a BBQ, we also had Pan Sushi on site serving delicious Japanese inspired street food.
The popular event continued until 11pm.

Tim says the turnout of more than 200 was great for a first-time event, giving him encouragement to stage another such event next year, which will hopefully be bigger and better.
He added: “We had some people that have been to some of our other events like Hearty Fest and the Great Yorkshire Wine & Fizz Festival, but we welcomed lots of new visitors that have never been to our vineyard before, so really positive weekend.

“We are now back to our regular vineyard tours and wine tasting events as we build up to our grape harvest and wine making, which looks like starting in around 4 or 5 weeks’ time.”
