A newly refurbished nursery in Sand Hutton has opened its doors, bringing fresh childcare options to the area.
Located on the York Biotech Campus (YBC), Little Years Sand Hutton will serve both campus occupiers and families from the surrounding area.
The nursery is the result of a £50,000 transformation of a former nursery building on the site by the family-run Little Years group.
Liz Cashon, estates manager at York Biotech Campus, said: "We're delighted to welcome Little Years to the campus and see the nursery officially open.
"Providing high-quality facilities and services for our occupiers is an important part of creating a thriving campus environment, and childcare is a valuable addition for both those who work here and neighbouring residents.
"The opening further strengthens our offer as a destination where organisations and people can grow and succeed."
The refurbished nursery features interlinking playrooms, age-specific learning areas, dedicated sleep rooms, and a child-sized kitchen designed to support hands-on learning.
Up to 55 children can be accommodated each day.
Natalie Bishop, founder of Little Years, said: "Opening Sand Hutton is an exciting milestone for Little Years.
"We've created a purpose-built environment that reflects our commitment to giving children the very best start in life, while remaining true to our belief that every child should be encouraged to be unapologetically themselves.
"We are looking forward to welcoming families and becoming part of the York Biotech Campus community."
Each room has been designed to create a calm environment and reduce overwhelm, while also fostering meaningful connections across age groups.
The nursery is the fifth site for the North Yorkshire-based Little Years group, which was established in 2022.
The group blends elements of Montessori, Forest School, and Steiner Waldorf philosophies to create a child-centred approach to early years education.
Little Years Sand Hutton is open Monday to Friday and offers flexible care options for families.
Children attending the nursery also benefit from a large outdoor garden designed to encourage play, exploration, and development.
The opening of the nursery expands the list of on-site amenities at York Biotech Campus, which already includes a fitness centre, restaurant, and conference facilities.
These services are available to both campus occupiers and external organisations.
