Newly released footage from police has revealed the frightening speed at which a Bradford driver was travelling moments before a collision left a 17-year-old boy with life-changing injuries.
The video, compiled from a series of security cameras, shows a Mercedes A45 racing through a largely residential area, disappearing in a matter of seconds as it passes each camera position.
The footage also appears to include dashcam video showing the car overtaking another vehicle at speed, with debris thrown into the air behind it.
The images provide a stark visual illustration of the driving described by witnesses and prosecutors after Mohammed Khan was jailed for causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
Teen suffers life-changing injuries
Bradford Crown Court heard that Khan, 25, was driving along Halifax Road, Bradford, at around 100mph on September 16, 2024.
At about 8.20pm, two teenage boys were crossing the road near Tesco when the Mercedes approached.
One of the boys managed to avoid the vehicle, but his friend was struck.
The teenager suffered serious injuries to his hand.
His severed leg was later found around 100 yards from where he came to rest.
The victim was treated at the scene before being taken to Leeds General Infirmary, where he underwent 12 hours of surgery.
He remained in hospital for more than four months.
Driver left the scene
The court heard that Khan did not remain at the scene after the collision.
Instead, he drove away before later stopping approximately two miles away, where he and a passenger examined the damage to the Mercedes.
Khan removed the vehicle's registration plates and disposed of them before arranging for the car to be recovered and taken to a property on Saddiq Way, where it was hidden.
He handed himself in at a police station the following day.
In a statement read to the court, the victim's mother said her son had suffered "horrific injuries" and described the impact the incident had had on him and the wider family.
Danger driver is jailed
Last week, Khan, of Donisthorpe Street, Eccleshill, was sentenced to 34 months' imprisonment for causing serious injury by dangerous driving and a consecutive six-month sentence for perverting the course of justice, making a total of 40 months.
He was disqualified from driving for six years and eight months and must pass an extended re-test before being allowed to drive again.

Inspector Claire Gray from West Yorkshire Police’s Roads Policing Unit said, “This case shows that dangerous driving can lead to catastrophic results.
“People need to understand that speed limits are there for everyone’s safety and to blatantly ignore this is unacceptable.
“Our Roads Policing officers are committed to identifying and taking action against those who put themselves and other road users at risk.
“This is also about prevention.
"Our work forms part of the Vision Zero approach across West Yorkshire, which recognises that deaths and serious injuries on our roads are preventable.
"We all have a part to play in making our roads safer.
"That means making sensible decisions when driving and never putting a moment of excitement or a social media post ahead of the safety of yourself or somebody else.”
