Neighbours were woken by explosions after gas canisters ignited during a late-night garden fire.
The blaze broke out in a garden on Beechwood Close in West Marton, in the early hours of Saturday, August 7.
It quickly spread to pallets and gas canisters stored under a gazebo, causing intense flames and a series of loud explosions.
One person, who asked to remain anonymous, said: "Two fire engines were called in the early hours to a fire on Beechwood Close in West Marton after neighbours were woken up to exploding gas canisters that shook windows and created an inferno of gas driving flames 20 feet into the air."
The fire spread to fencing and bushes at nearby properties, causing damage to garages and posing a risk to nearby vehicles.
The resident said: "The fire could easily have got a whole lot worse as three cars were parked only feet away."
“It was a very scary moment for those living close by.
A spokesperson for the North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Two crews from Skipton responded to a report of a fire in a garden of a residential property.
