A man is due to appear in court charged with 85 counts of shop theft.
Stockton’s Neighbourhood Policing Team has charged a 24-year-old man with 85 shop thefts which occurred throughout July and August across Stockton.
He was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Teesside Magistrates’ Court next Tuesday (August 25).
Chief Inspector Jamie Bell said: "We’re continuing to tackle retail crime and shoplifting as we know the huge impact it has on businesses as well as the wider community who just want to go about their daily business.
"Please continue to report incidents to us.
"You may not see an immediate response but all information provided builds the bigger picture which helps us take the most appropriate action."
Shoplifting can be reported through the Cleveland Police website or via the live chat function.
Non-emergencies can be reported by calling 101, while 999 should be used in emergencies.
