A Teesside fisherman’s fight for answers after thousands of dead crabs washed up on the North East coast will be on the big screen next month.
All Rivers Spill Their Stories To The Sea will be screened on Saturday, September 12, followed by a Q&A session with Teesside director Jeanie Finlay and veteran fisherman Stan Rennie.
The film follows the mass discovery of dead crabs that washed up along the North East coastline in 2021 - and the impact it had on fishing families and coastal communities.

The film's synopsis describes Stan as an "unlikely figurehead" for the campaign, but the veteran fisherman was personally and professionally affected when thousands of dead crabs, lobsters and shellfish washed up along miles of coastline - including Redcar and Seaton Carew.
The documentary explores the effect the incident had on his livelihood, as well as the wider campaign looking for answers.
The documentary charts Stan’s campaign alongside fellow fishermen in the North East and North Yorkshire, as they try to establish what happened and hold those responsible to account.

Filmmakers describe the story as a David-and-Goliath struggle, which ultimately makes its way to a court room - exploring themes of community, grief and resilience.
The documentary was produced by Teesside-born filmmaker Jeanie Finlay, whose previous work includes Your Fat Friend.

Telling the story of one of the Teesside coast's biggest mysteries through the eyes of a local fisherman and director, the film's Redcar screening carries particular local significance.
The Redcar screening will give audiences the chance to find out what happened and hear directly from Jeanie and Stan during a post-film discussion about the documentary and the issues it raises.
