A Spennymoor man has been given nine penalty points for driving without due care and attention on a roundabout while using a mobile.
David Raisbeck, of Ullswater Close, appeared at Peterlee Magistrates' Court on August 14, after admitting three driving offences committed on April 25.
The 36-year-old drove a Vauxhall on Cambridge Street roundabout without "due care and attention".
The court heard he was also using a handheld mobile phone while driving and did not hold a valid licence for the vehicle at the time.
Raisbeck pleaded guilty to all charges.
He received a £120 fine for careless driving and was ordered to pay £85 in costs and a £48 surcharge.

His driving record was endorsed with nine penalty points.
No separate penalty was imposed for the mobile phone or licence offences, though both were taken into account.
Raisbeck must pay all sums by September 11. His guilty plea was taken into account.
