A Darlington man has been given a community order after admitting assaulting a woman "by beating".
Graham Nelson, 45, of Jura Drive, Darlington, pleaded guilty at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates' Court to assaulting the woman on April 2.
The court imposed a community order, set to end on February 12, 2028.
As part of this order, Nelson must abstain from alcohol for 120 days, until December 10.
He was required to remain at an approved address between 5pm and midnight to allow the fitting of a tag and monitoring equipment.

Nelson must also attend a 26-day programme and participate in up to six days of rehabilitation activities as directed by the responsible officer.
The court took Nelson's guilty plea into account when passing sentence.
Nelson was also ordered to pay £85 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service.
