A centre in North Yorkshire is celebrating 25 years of helping cats find new homes.
The North Yorkshire Cat Centre, part of Cats Protection, has helped rehome around 7,500 cats and kittens since it opened in 2001.
To mark the milestone, the centre will host an open day on Saturday, August 22, from 12pm to 3pm.
James Hodgkison, who became centre manager six months after it opened, said: "Running an adoption centre is challenging, but it is also extremely rewarding.
"Our cat pens are always full, and we generally have a long waiting list of cats needing to come into care.
"It can be relentless, as soon as one cat leaves, another takes their place, but we have a great team of staff and volunteers all dedicated to making a better life for cats."
The event will feature family-friendly games, stalls, and a raffle with prizes including hampers, attraction tickets and cat accessories.
York Gin will run a pop-up bar, and visitors can enjoy refreshments and cakes while touring the centre and meeting some of the cats currently in care.
The centre houses up to 50 cats at a time, many of whom are strays or have lost their homes due to bereavement or other circumstances.
