Man arrested after discovery of stolen police uniform and weapons

A man was arrested on Sunday (August 16) after officers found stolen police uniform and machetes inside a car.

Officers were in the area of Melton Old Road, Melton, when they spotted what appeared to be stolen police uniform and machetes inside the car.

Checks also identified that the vehicle was displaying what were believed to be false registration plates.

A 34-year-old man who was “acting suspiciously” was subsequently arrested on suspicion of theft, possession of an offensive weapon, fraudulent use of a registration mark, using a motor vehicle without insurance and causing the driving of a motor vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence.

He remains in custody while enquiries continue, Humberside Police said.
