Dogs and their owners are in for a treat as York Museum Gardens prepares to host a big new event dedicated entirely to our four-legged friends.
The York Dog Show will take over the city centre venue onSunday, 20 September, running from** 10am to 4pm**.
Hosted in partnership with the team from York Dog Park, the inaugural event promises a packed day out for pet owners and families.
The dog show will be judged on the day by author and TV star Amanda Owen, of Yorkshire Shepherdess fame.
She said: “I’m so excited to be judging York Dog Show in York Museum Gardens.
“I always love to come and meet all the dogs and their owners and look forward to seeing them all on the day!”
The event will feature a pop-up shopping village packed with pet accessories, toys, and treats, as well as food and drink stalls hosted by local Yorkshire producers.
There’ll be the Have-a-Go Dog Park, offering a fun space for all.
The schedule features:
- Fun dog classes and competitions with prizes for Handsomest Dog to Fanciest Female to Cutest Puppy or Best Trick.
- Talks by veterinary experts offering advice on pet care and wellbeing.
- Professional dog photography sessions to capture your pup in front of the gardens’ backdrop.
- Community stalls highlighting local animal welfare organisations and charities.
Senior events manager at York Museums Trust said: “Dog owners of Yorkshire, this one is for you! We are so excited to be hosting our first ever dog show and bring together pet lovers, experts, businesses, trainers and photographers to celebrate our canine companions.”
Tickets for attendees will cost £5 for adults and**£2 for children**. Tickets are on sale via the York Museums Trust website.
