Police have today released more details about the incident which closed the road next to Clifford’s Tower in York late on Saturday (15 August).
As YorkMix reported, Tower Street was closed to traffic for some time.
The pedestrian crossing near Tower Gardens was cordoned off.
Incident location
Today, a North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “At around 8.44pm on Saturday, North Yorkshire Police were called by the ambulance service to Tower Street, near Clifford’s Tower in York, following a collision involving a three-year-old girl and a blue Volkswagen Golf.
“The girl was taken to hospital with serious head injuries where she currently remains.
“Anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the incident but has not yet spoken to the police is asked to get in touch.”
The road remained cordoned off until 3am on Sunday.
