We’re on the hunt to find the best bakery in the Bradford district.

From freshly baked bread and sourdough to pies, pasties, sandwiches, celebration cakes and sweet treats, there is no shortage of fantastic bakeries across the area.

Today, the Telegraph & Argus is launching its Best Bakery 2026 competition to celebrate the independent businesses and family-run shops at the heart of communities across Bradford district.

Whether it is a bakery you visit for a morning bacon sandwich, a lunchtime pie, a loaf for the weekend or a tray of cakes for a special occasion, we want to hear about the places that keep you coming back.

The search is open to bakeries across Bradford, Keighley, Bingley, Shipley, Ilkley and the wider district.

Last year’s competition proved hugely popular with readers, who nominated their favourite local businesses before a shortlist of 10 finalists was put to a public vote.

G&J Pitt Family Bakers, on Swain House Road in Bradford, was named the Telegraph & Argus Best Bakery 2025 for the second consecutive year.

Now, it is time to discover which business will take the title in 2026.

Readers can nominate their go-to bakery using our online voting platform, which can be found at www.surveymonkey.com/r/TABEST

Nominations close on Sunday, August 23.

Voting slips will then be printed in the Telegraph & Argus from Monday, August 31, until Saturday, September 12. During that period, we will profile each of the finalists and readers will be able to back the business they believe deserves to be crowned the Telegraph & Argus Best Bakery 2026.

Telegraph & Argus editor Nigel Burton said: “The Best Bakery competition is a brilliant opportunity to shine a light on some of the amazing local businesses across the Bradford district.

“It is no secret that we have some fantastic bakeries serving up everything from fresh bread and cakes to pies, pasties and sweet treats.

“That’s why we are launching our Best Bakery 2026 competition. We want to celebrate the best of the best, and we need your help to do just that.

“We now need you to nominate your favourite bakery.

“Nominations are open now and we’ll be bringing you updates on those shortlisted in our competition next week, so keep an eye out to see if your favourite is featured.”
