A North East paedophile used accounts under his own children’s names to access sickening child sexual abuse images.
Nigel Jackson, from Stockton, downloaded 117 files of indecent images of children to his laptop over nine years.
Teesside Crown Court heard that some of the videos - 22 of which were labelled as category A images, the most severe - involved children being raped.
The 57-year-old even used accounts in his own children’s names to access the material.
Jackson was arrested after officers received information that images had been downloaded.
At the time, he told officers he had seen some images on his laptop - but when the device was seized, indecent pictures were found spanning almost a decade.
Officers also found there were "various programs and apps designed to hide” the images.
The court heard how his wife, who did not know about Jackson’s online activity, was left “shocked and emotional” over the ordeal.
Jackson initially pleaded not guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children but changed his plea to guilty before a trial was due to get underway.
The court heard how 117 files were found on the laptop, including 22 category A images between May 2015 and February 2023, six category B images between May 2015 and May 2022, and 89 category C images between December 2016 and November 2024.
Jackson, who had no previous convictions and is currently a carer for his wife, gave no comment in interviews.
Judge Jo Kidd said: “It is clear that this is something of a journey in coming to terms with your criminal offending, which took place over a significant period of time.”
She added: “You knew that the children depicted in these images and videos that you watched were real children.

“Without a market for these images, children will be saved and protected. Those who continue to watch it provide a marketplace.”
Jackson, of Hartburn Lane, Stockton, was handed a nine-month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months.
He is also required to carry out 25 rehabilitation activity days, 200 hours of unpaid work, and was handed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for 10 years.
He was also fined £1,630.
