A cricket club will turn pink and purple this summer for a special charity event.
Scarborough Cricket Club will host 'Wear Pink and Purple for Saint Catherine’s Day' on Friday, August 28, during Yorkshire's Rothesay County Championship match against Leicestershire.
The event aims to raise funds and awareness for Saint Catherine’s hospice, with fans encouraged to wear purple and donate on the day.
Pete Beard, fundraiser at Saint Catherine’s, said: "We are thrilled to be working with Scarborough Cricket Club on this collaboration, bringing together a fantastic day of sporting action and the chance to raise funds and awareness at the same time."
Saint Catherine’s staff will be at the ground selling themed merchandise.
Fans are also encouraged to wear their own purple clothing, hats and even wigs to show support.
Daniel Gregory, operations manager at Scarborough Cricket Club, said: "We're proud to be teaming up with Saint Catherine's to raise funds for such a worthy cause.
"Almost everyone in the area knows someone who has benefited from the services Saint Catherine's provides, so we're hoping this new initiative will raise plenty of money and grow year-on-year, much like the Wear Red day for the Ruth Strauss Foundation has."
