A teenager has been arrested after two homes were “deliberately” smashed into in Middlesbrough.
The first incident happened on Pilkington Street in North Ormesby around 11.30pm on Wednesday (August 11) when a vehicle crashed into an address.
The vehicle was abandoned at the scene and the suspects fled - and while no one was injured, the property needed to be assessed by structural engineers.
Soon after, officers found a home on MacBean Street had also been struck by a vehicle, which also needed to be examined for its structural integrity.
Cleveland Police said both incidents were believed to be linked earlier this week.
The force has today (August 16) confirmed that officers have arrested a 19-year-old man from Thornaby on suspicion of criminal damage.
He was questioned overnight and has been released on conditional bail as the investigation continues.
Middlesbrough’s local policing superintendent, Marc Anderson, previously said: "I would appeal for anyone with information about who may have been responsible for these incidents or the circumstances surrounding them to get in touch.
