A housing association is inviting community groups in Durham communities to apply for a share of £50,000 in funding to help tackle social isolation and anti-social behaviour in their communities.
Believe housing is offering grants of between £10,000 and £30,000 for projects in Brandon, Browney, Langley Moor, and Meadowfield that address loneliness and social isolation.
Up to £15,000 is also available for initiatives in Ushaw Moor aimed at tackling anti-social behaviour.
Damian Pearson, community investment performance team leader at believe housing, said: "The issues we're focusing on have been identified through our understanding of local communities, drawing on insight from colleagues, partners, and the information we hold about our neighbourhoods.
"By targeting funding where it can make the biggest difference, we can support organisations that are well placed to respond to local challenges and improve people's wellbeing."
He said the housing association believes people are more likely to thrive when they feel "safe, connected, and supported" where they live.
The funding could support befriending schemes and community projects that help residents build social connections, improve wellbeing, and access support.
In Ushaw Moor, the funding is intended for projects that bring people together, create positive opportunities for young people, and encourage residents to take an active role in building a safer and stronger community.
Mr Pearson said: "We know people are more likely to thrive when they feel safe, connected, and supported where they live, which is why we're investing in projects that address local challenges and strengthen communities."

Applications are now open, with an expression of interest required by 4pm on Monday, August 24, and full applications due by 4pm on Monday, September 7.
Believe Housing’s community investment team will support eligible organisations throughout the application process.
The funding is available to community groups, voluntary organisations, and other not-for-profits.
