Drivers have been warned to avoid a main road leading to the North Yorkshire coast while emergency services deal with a road accident.
A crash has happened on the A171 Whitby to Scarborough road, near the Robin Hood's Bay turn-off on Robin Hood's Bay Road.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "We are currently at the scene of a road traffic collision on the A171 between Whitby and Scarborough.
"Air ambulance are also in attendance. There is a build up in traffic in the area as the road has now been closed.
"Please plan a different route."

North Yorkshire Police issued the first warning at 4.45pm this afternoon, Sunday, August 16, but traffic in the area is growing.
Unconfirmed online reports from passers-by suggest a motorcyclist was injured in the incident but police have not provided further details.
