A new art exhibition in Pocklington is inviting visitors to experience a familiar place through unfamiliar eyes.
Artist and writer Helen Frank, who recently returned to her hometown of Pocklington after a decade spent exhibiting in cities such as Paris and London, is showcasing her latest work at Pocklington Arts Centre in a show titled 'A Pocklington Panoramic'.
Running from Saturday, August 29, to Friday, September 25, the exhibition features large-scale, Cubist-influenced drawings of Pocklington that explore memory, perspective, and the layered experience of place.
Ms Frank said: "This exhibition is not like anything I have done before.
"I don’t usually work on a large scale, nor have I worked with an architectural subject matter.
"I have tried to capture as much detail as I can, so perhaps they could see something in the artwork that draws their attention and will inspire them to explore the town further."
During the making of the drawings, Ms Frank created a digital collage, as she was temporarily without studio space after moving house.
She added: "I may yet show that as part of the exhibition because it was an interesting part of the process for me."
Ms Frank holds a Master of Fine Art with Distinction from Sheffield Hallam and has exhibited internationally.
She has previously shown work at The Sorbonne in Paris, as well as in Berlin and London.
A preview evening will be held on Thursday, September 3, from 5.30pm to 7pm, and admission to the exhibition is free.
