One driver from York and three from North and East Yorkshire are off the road for at least 12 months each after they appeared before magistrates courts.
Michael Carbert, 54, of Kingsway West, Acomb, appeared before Hull Magistrates Court. He pleaded guilty to causing serious injury to a woman by careless driving in Bridlington.
He was given a 12-month community order with 200 hours and banned from driving for 12 months. He was ordered to pay £85 prosecution costs and a £114 statutory surcharge.
Five were sentenced at Scarborough Magistrates Court.
Brian Owen, 55, of Millers Court, Scalby, pleaded guilty to careless driving on the A165 at Scalby, failure to stop after an accident in which another vehicle was damaged and drink driving when nearly three times the drink drive limit.
He was given a 12-month community order with 200 hours’ unpaid work, banned from driving for 28 months and ordered to pay £85 prosecution costs and a £114 statutory surcharge
Matthew Hall, 34, of Scalby Road, Scalby, pleaded guilty to cocaine driving and ketamine driving in Scarborough.
He was given a 12-month community order with 100 hours’ unpaid work and banned from driving for three years. He must pay £85 prosecution costs and a £114 statutory surcharge.
Gavin Pearson, 48, of West Street, Bridlington, pleaded guilty to failure to provide a specimen of breath when suspected of drink driving.
He was given a 12-month community order with 15 days’ rehabilitative activities and must wear an alcohol abstinence tag for 90 days.
He was banned from driving for 20 months and must pay £650 prosecution costs and a £114 statutory surcharge.
Anthony Hopcraft, 32, of Gildercliffe, Scarborough, pleaded guilty to drink driving in Scarborough.
He was banned from driving for 40 months, fined £162 and ordered to pay £400 prosecution costs.
James Myers, 57, of Almond Tree Avenue, Malton, pleaded guilty to drink driving when two and a half times the drink drive limit on the A64 Malton bypass.
He was given a 12-month community order with six months’ alcohol treatment, six months’ mental health treatment and 10 days’ rehabilitative activities and banned from driving for three years. He was fined £140 and ordered to pay £85 prosecution costs and a £114 statutory surcharge.
