Following on from the positive news that Cauwood Day Centre will continue I personally would just like to thank everyone who has supported our campaign and helped make it happen.
We have managed to secure much needed provision for vulnerable and disabled adults in Ryedale. Although we sadly could not save the building in Malton we have been allocated a replacement building in Pickering. Cawood’s new home will eventually relocate to Pickering once all the building works and renovations are complete. It is also hoped that in the long-term satellite spaces will be available in Malton.
Personally, I would just like to thank the following councillors: Keane Duncan, Lindsay Burr, Steve Mason, Joy Andrews, Di Keal, Jason Aldrich, Mandy Carpenter and Emma Dineen. Malton, Norton and Pickering Town Councils, Nawton Parish Council and Kevin Hollinrake MP. I would also like to express my thanks to Lisa Keenan and Heidi Ridgewell at Ryedale Special Families, Malton Rotary Club, Mencap, BBC & ITV news teams, and Karen Darley at the Gazette & Herald who has published so many articles on our behalf. If I have missed anyone I do apologise.
Also, a massive thank you to the 2000-plus members of the public who willingly signed our petition. The strength and feeling we got from that which we all felt when the impending closure was announced to the elation we felt after the meetings held at Northallerton on the 4th August. It has been a very long four months working hard with all those mentioned above to ensure that this much needed service was saved.
