Arrest after man found sleeping in car in a ditch on rural Yorkshire road

A man has been arrested and charged after he was found asleep in a car in a ditch on a rural Yorkshire road.

Humberside Police said it was alerted to the scene on Weghil Road in Preston, near Holderness, at around 3.30am on Friday (Aug 14).

The force attended the scene in the early hours of this morning and arrested James Ebbott, of Finsbury Drive in Grimsby.

The 39-year-old appeared was charged and released on bail to appear at Hull Magistrates Court on September 16.

A statement from Humberside Police said: “It was reported at around 3.30am officers woke the man who allegedly blew 78 on a roadside breathalyser.

“Thankfully no one was injured as a result of the vehicle being in a ditch.”

The legal limit for a roadside breathalyser is 35 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.
