Free pump track coming to Helmsley for Tour of Britain celebrations

Cycling fans of all ages will soon have a special reason to celebrate.

A free pump track will be open to the public in Helmsley on Saturday, September 5, located in the car park of the Black Swan in the Market Place.

Available from 9.30am to 3.30pm, the event coincides with the start of Stage 4 of the 2026 Tour of Britain, which begins in the town.

Carol Swift, chair of Helmsley Town Council, said: "We are delighted to host the start of Stage 4 of the 2026 Tour of Britain.

"To celebrate this wonderful occasion, the Town Council has organised a Pump Track for everyone to enjoy the day and soak up the atmosphere.

"All are welcome to join us for a fun time in Helmsley."

The pump track is a custom-built wooden circuit featuring rollers and corners, designed for riders of all ages and abilities to enjoy and improve their cycling skills in a fun, active setting.

The event has been organised by Helmsley Town Council with funding from the North York Moors National Park Authority.

BMX bikes and helmets will be provided free of charge on the day. You could also bring your own helmet if you wish.
