A recently opened North Yorkshire gastropub has won a Global Recognition Award after little more than two months of trading.
The global business award, backed by leading media brands, has been presented to the Furlong and Furrow at Copt Hewick, near Ripon.
Laura and James Davis opened the inn in late May in the former Black-A-Moor Inn.
Announcing the award in the start-up category, the couple thanked their staff and the Ripon community for their support.

The Global Recognition Award receives more than 15,000 entries a year, with only 5.8 per cent of them getting such recognition.
The Furlong and Furrow has been recognised “for building a service-focused hospitality venue that has earned consistent customer approval, supported local causes, and brought renewed purpose to a pub restaurant.”

The award organisers also noted the couple entered “a difficult hospitality market with a carefully renovated venue, a clear identity, and an operating approach shaped by the needs of guests and the Ripon community.”
This was reflected in flawless five-star ratings on Tripadvisor and Google, with much charitable work and local support, they said.
Nominations for Laura and James Davis in the Harrogate Hospitality Awards for Host of the Year and Chef of the Year further support the view that their service and culinary work have been recognized beyond their immediate customer base.
Alex Sterling, a spokesperson for Global Recognition Awards, added: “The Furlong and Furrow has earned recognition because its owners have paired strong customer service with a genuine commitment to the community around them.
“Laura and James have created a hospitality venue that has gained public confidence through focused effort, and its early record supports its selection for a 2026 Global Recognition Award.”
