Jane Asher and Samantha Womack will star in a new play about Queen Elizabeth II.
By Royal Appointment, the debut play by Daisy Goodwin, creator of ITV’s Victoria, will be shown at York Theatre Royal from November 10 to November 14.
The play explores how The Queen, played by Asher, and her Dresser, played by Womack, created the public image of the monarch.
David Robb and Matthew Cottle will also join the cast.
The show is directed by Anthony Banks and co-produced by Daniel Schumann, Lee Dean, and The Arts Theatre Cambridge, with a post-show discussion on November 12.
The play offers a behind-the-scenes look at the late Queen, focusing on how she expressed herself through her wardrobe.
Asher, a seasoned actress, has an extensive stage and film background, while Womack is known for her roles in various West End productions and TV series.
The show times are as follows: Tuesday, November 10 at 7.30pm, Wednesday, November 11 at 2pm and 7.30pm, Thursday, November 12 at 2pm and 7.30pm, Friday, November 13 at 7.30pm, and Saturday, November 14 at 2.30pm and 7.30pm.
