An easy but beautiful walk in Yorkshire has been named one of the best for a nighttime hike.
Experts at Blacks have created a list of the best hikes to do during the night across the UK.
Each walk was ranked based on its AllTrails difficulty, AllTrails review score, elevation gain per km, and sky darkness.
The Thornton-le-Dale to Ellerburn trail made it onto the list thanks to it being easy to complete and scoring 8.19 out of 10.
What is the Thornton-le-Dale to Ellerburn trail like?
The trail will take you through the village of Thornton-le-Dale and the little hamlet of Ellerburn.
You will walk along the village’s beck and will go through a range of woodland and field paths.
The walk is incredibly popular at peak times, but you will still feel relaxed walking past the thatched cottages.
Throughout the walk, you will get to see sheep in the fields and enjoy the countryside around you.
When you reach Ellerburn, you might want to visit the church of St Hilda, which dates back to around 1050AD.
Natalie Wolfenden, author and hiking enthusiast at Blacks, comments: "Even for experienced hikers, careful packing is essential for a nighttime hike.
"Once the sun sets, temperatures can drop rapidly, and exposure to cold, bitter conditions becomes a significant risk.
"Ensure you carry adequate insulating layers and other cold-weather essentials to remain safe and comfortable throughout the hike.
"Hikers must adapt their layers to suit the expected conditions and monitor the forecast for any developing weather.
"Even on familiar routes, carry waterproofs in case of rain, wear footwear appropriate to the terrain, and ensure you have a reliable torch or headtorch with spare batteries.
"Fully charge your phone and bring a power bank as changing conditions and reduced visibility can quickly increase the risk of injury."

People who have completed the walk have taken to AllTrails to share their thoughts on the route, with one saying: "A beautiful and easy walk across fields and through the hamlets of Thornton Le Dale and Ellerburn.
"Lovely views along the way.
"A tad muddy along the tracks across the fields to Ellerburn, but a relatively flatish walk."
