It happened on Haxby Road at about 3pm.
A large tree limb fell onto the roof of a Fiat 500 near the road’s junction with Markham Street.
Incident location
The tree is believed to have come from Clarence Gardens, opposite Markham Street.
The occupant of the car was unhurt.
One of those who witnessed what happened posted an update on Facebook: “I was one of the first on the scene and it took us about five mins to saw up the limbs to clear the road.
“Buses whacked the overhanging branch time and time again according to to local residents.
“The young girl was OK, not harmed, but if she was driving in the other direction, or someone was exiting the park, it would have been a lot more serious – the limb was about a foot in diameter.”
