A petrol station sign left drivers stunned after displaying diesel at more than double the usual price.
The unusually high number appeared on the price board at Asda’s fuel station near the marina in Hartlepool earlier this week.
Diesel was listed at a mega 433.2p per litre.
Despite clearly being an error, the display prompted surprise among customers, with drivers quick to poke a little fun.
One person said "That's Asda price," while another joked: "That's for premium."
An Asda spokesperson has since cleared up any confusion.
A spokesperson for the supermarket told the Northern Echo: "It's important to note that whilst the price was incorrect on the totem.
"The price shown on the pump itself was correct throughout.
"We never sold any diesel at 4.33ppl."

The spokesperson added: "The price customers are paying for diesel (as of August 14) is 174.7ppl.
"This was an issue with the pixels on the sign, and a job has been logged to fix this issue.
"We apologise for any inconvenience caused."
