A County Durham pub has confirmed its former landlords have left after a year, with a new owner now taking over.
The previous landlords announced on social media that they had officially left The Red Alligator in South Church, near Bishop Auckland, following the pub’s temporary closure earlier this week.
In a social media post, former landlord Beth Leanne said: "Unfortunately, me and Ben have officially left after a year of being there.
"We did think we would be there for the long run, but I’ll keep the circumstances private and I do wish the new owner all the best and hope it does well."
She thanked customers for supporting the pair during their time at the village pub, saying they faced challenges but continued to run the venue through every setback.
Beth said: "We would like to thank everyone who has supported us the past year, even with its ups and downs.
"When we first started it was problem after problem, but we still carried on after every setback.
"We have made some wonderful friends over the year and will miss you all dearly.
"What a community to be a part of.
"From not being local to coming to Bishop Auckland, we felt welcome from day one.
"There are some lovely people and South Church should be proud."
She said it had been a "very sad day" for the couple, but hinted they may return to Bishop Auckland with another venture in the town centre after taking time away.
Beth added: "It might not be the end of us just yet, with a wonderful friend helping us with another venture in the centre of Bishop Auckland.
"But for now we are taking a well-deserved month or so off to enjoy spending time with our rescue dogs, family and friends back home."

Since the announcement, customers have wished Beth and Ben well in their next chapter, with some describing the news as "such a shame" and saying they would be missed.
Customers who made bookings while Beth and Ben were running the pub have been told the details are recorded in the diary, which is now with the new owner.
The Red Alligator’s name is inspired by Red Alligator, the horse trained by Bishop Auckland trainer Denys Smith who won the Grand National in 1968.
