Firefighters battled a suspected arson attack for around eight hours last night (August 13) at Eston Hills.
Emergency services were called at around 12.55pm, following reports of smoke and flames coming from the hills.
Fire crews from Billingham, Coulby Newham and Grangetown attended the incident to bring the flames under control.
The firefighters battled the fire for around eight hours before leaving at around 9.05pm.
Cleveland Fire Brigade believe the cause of the fire to be deliberate.
A spokesperson said: "Cleveland Fire Brigade was called to an incident on Eston Hills at 12.55pm on August 13.

"Five fire engines attended from Billingham, Coulby Newham and Grangetown.
"Two large seats of fire. Crews used ground beaters to bring the incident under control. The cause is believed to be deliberate.
"A stop message was received at 9.05pm."
