Young performers are being invited to take centre stage in North Yorkshire this summer as a historic theatre launches a series of workshops aimed at building confidence and creativity.
The Georgian Theatre Royal in Richmond is running two youth events in August through its Georgian Youth Theatre programme.
Lucy Booton, youth theatre officer, said: "These workshops are all about encouraging young people to explore their creativity, build confidence and have fun in a supportive environment.
"Whether they're already passionate about theatre or trying it for the first time, they'll have the opportunity to develop new skills, make friends and create something really special together."
The first event is a week-long summer workshop for ages 11 to 18, taking place from Monday, August 3 to Saturday, August 8.
During the week, participants will create and perform Twisted: The Untold Story, an original play that reimagines classic fairy tales from the perspective of the villains.
Set in the long-abandoned Fairytale High Court, the production gives forgotten antagonists a voice, unravelling familiar stories with fresh perspectives, hidden truths, and unexpected turns.
The workshop concludes with a public performance on the theatre’s historic stage on the final day.

For younger children, a one-day workshop called Spellbound will run on Tuesday, August 11 for ages 6 to 10.
This session uses games, storytelling, movement, and imaginative play to help children create magical characters and make their own wands.
The cost for the one-day workshop is £20. Places on both workshops are limited.
