Rishi Sunak has welcomed the comprehensive refurbishment of a landmark hotel in North Yorkshire.
Mr Sunak, MP for Richmond and Northallerton, praised the transformation of The Wainstones Hotel in Great Broughton, a former farmstead dating back to 1725.
The building has served as a hotel since the 1970s and has now been "virtually rebuilt" under the ownership of local businessman Keith Clarke.

Mr Sunak said: "I know the old Wainstones Hotel was popular but this welcome investment secures its future and provides extra employment.
"They have done a first-class job."
The renovated hotel now includes 20 individually designed bedrooms, a cocktail bar, a restaurant offering modern, seasonal menus, and two private dining rooms.
A new function suite, lounge, and outdoor terrace have also been added, along with Stones Café, which is open seven days a week during the day.
During a visit, Mr Sunak toured the upgraded facilities, met with staff, and even tried his hand at cake decorating in the kitchen.

He also saw work nearing completion on No 29, an adjacent building which has been converted into four additional luxury rooms, including a bridal suite.
Mr Sunak highlighted the hotel’s support for walkers on the Coast to Coast Path and the Cleveland Way, noting its free shuttle service to and from Clay Bank Top.
He said: "Quality accommodation like that provided at the Wainstones Hotel is essential to the success of the new National Trail."
The shuttle returns walkers to the same spot the next day to continue their journey.
The Wainstones Hotel also takes part in the official Coast to Coast Passport scheme, which allows hikers to collect stamps and access discounts at local businesses along the route.
Earlier this year, the 192-mile Coast to Coast Path was designated a National Trail following a successful campaign led by Mr Sunak.

Hotel manager Claire Johnson said: "We are very proud of what we have achieved at the new Wainstones and we were delighted that Rishi could give it his seal of approval and speak to our staff about being part of the Wainstones team."
Mr Sunak said he was especially pleased to see the hotel supporting the growing number of walkers using the nearby trails.
