Millions of people across York and North Yorkshire have been sent a wildfire emergency phone alert warning against 'any activity that could start a fire'.
The government sent that alert to people across the country this evening (Friday, August 14), warning against setting light to anything that could spark a wildfire, including barbecues, firepits, and fireworks.
It comes after a fire broke out on the outskirts of York that spread for 1km.
