Search the Public Notice Portal PLANS to demolish a café, ice cream shop and public toilets on a North Yorkshire beach front have been recommended for approval by council officers.
The building, which also includes retail kiosks, at Royal Parade on Filey seafront has incurred damage that is “rapidly” worsening, North Yorkshire Council said.
The council is seeking approval to demolish the site, with future plans to replace the amenities being developed.
An application submitted by Align Property Services (APS), on behalf of the council, said the building was at risk of structural failure due to bad weather and “inadequate” building foundations, which have been “exacerbated” by prolonged exposure to water.

An emergency structural inspection was done by APS on February 12, determining that the building was not suitable for public use.
A spokesperson said: “The existing structure will be fully demolished and site cleared.
“Future plans are being developed for the replacement of the kiosks, café and toilet."

They added: “These are not included in this application.
“However, it is intended that the site will be left in a presentable state with a flat even surface that is cleared of vegetation matter and any debris arising from the demolition.”
The plans will be considered at a meeting of the Thirsk and Malton Planning Committee on Thursday (August 20).
