A MAIN road in North Yorkshire is closed in both directions due to a serious accident.
The A170 is shut at Middleton west of Pickering.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: "The road is closed in both directions and is likely to remain so while emergency services work at the scene.
"Please avoid the area and plan alternative routes for your journey. We will provide further updates when available."
