Police appeal over 'racist, sexual and misogynistic' graffiti on ten-mile stretch on A64

Police have issued an appeal for information relating to ‘racist, sexual and misogynistic’ graffiti which has appeared along a ten-mile stretch of the A64 in North Yorkshire.

North Yorkshire Police said it has received numerous reports of the graffiti being daubed on bus-shelters, fences, junction boxes and buildings along a ten-mile stretch of the road between West Knapton and Staxton Hill.

The force said: “These have happened sporadically over the past six months, although we have investigated a number of similar incidents over several years.

“However, it’s believed that there are more incidences recently than we are aware of as community-minded members of the public have cleaned the graffiti as soon as they’ve become aware of it, and in some cases, it has not been reported to us.

“If you see any incidents of graffiti, or have any information about who is responsible, please report it to the police as soon as you can and take a photograph if possible.”
