People across the North East made the most of the sunshine on Thursday (August 13) as temperatures soared to 32C.
Beaches and beauty spots were busy with sunseekers as the region experienced some of the hottest conditions of the summer.

In Darlington, temperatures reached 32C between 2pm and 4pm, with similarly hot conditions in Durham and Middlesbrough.
The heat also prompted a warning from County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service, which urged people to take extra care because of the increased risk of outdoor fires.

A spokesperson said: “It's set to be another hot day and we're asking people to please think before they act to prevent the risk of a fire from breaking out.
“Please don't use disposable BBQs or light campfires.

The hot spell is expected to ease from Friday (August 14). In Darlington, temperatures will peak at 27C and fall to lows of 12C.
