Two people have been taken to hospital following a crash on the A19 in County Durham.
Emergency services were called to the A-road between Easington and Murton around 9 am this morning (August 13).
The North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) confirmed that two people were taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital and two more were treated at the scene.
A spokesperson said: "We received a call at 8.54 am on Thursday, August 13 to reports of a road traffic incident on the A19 near Hawthorn.
"We dispatched two ambulance crews and a clinical leader to the scene.
"Two patients were treated and discharged on scene, and two more were taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital for further treatment."
The crash caused delays and slow-moving traffic which cleared up around 11 am.
A spokesperson for National Highways said: "We were made aware of the incident at around 08:58am.
"A lane 1 closure was put into place.
"Once the casualties were assessed, emergency services left the scene and the vehicles were recovered.
"All vehicles were cleared and confirmed all lanes opened at 11:03."
Durham Police confirmed that they were also called to the scene.

A spokesperson said: "We were called to reports of a two-vehicle road traffic collision just before 9 am this morning on the northbound carriageway of the A19 just before Easington Services.
"The ambulance service and National Highways also attended.
"No one is thought to have been seriously injured and officers stood down just before 10 am."
